Elon Musk appoints Linda Iaccarino as CEO of Twitter
American billionaire Elon Musk announced today, Friday, the appointment of Linda Iaccarino, CEO of the micro-blogging site “Twitter”, which has been in loss since major advertisers have been reluctant to use it for reasons related to their skepticism about the method of presentation and management of content.
The third richest person in the world, who lost his lead in the list of the wealthy after buying Twitter, hopes that Yacarino, who set many records in the advertising and media industries, will help revive the company and bring it out of its slums.
Born in New York in 1963, Linda received her undergraduate education at the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Pennsylvania State University, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications in 1985.
Linda initially worked for “Turner Entertainment” as Chief Operating Officer, an American multimedia company founded in the same year as Jacarino’s graduation, then rose to positions until she reached the position of Executive Vice President and Director of Advertising Sales.
Iaccarino then joined NBC Universal in 2011 as the company’s president of ad sales, and played a key role in launching Peacock, a videostream service launched by NBC at the time, which it currently operates through a spin-off. It bears the name “Peacock TV”, launched in 2020, and mainly shows series, films and various sports competitions from “NBC” studios, in addition to other providers.
The journalist joined the American Advertising Council, a non-profit organization that regulates advertising and sponsors, before US President Donald Trump appointed her in 2018 to the Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition.
Finally, Yacarino assumed the position of President of the American Advertising Council in January 2021, for a term that lasted until mid-2022, during which she participated with the Biden administration in 2021 to launch a vaccine campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of the Corona virus, with the participation of Pope Francis, in addition to chairing the World Economic Forum working group.
Today, Linda Iacarino announced her resignation from NBC Universal, and Elon Musk announced that she had taken over the reins of power on Twitter and appointed her to the position he had held since the completion of his purchase of the company.
Twitter suffered great losses before its acquisition by the successful businessman, which prompted him to try to evade its purchase after signing the contract, but he succumbed to the advice of his lawyers, who assured him of the weak prospects for the success of his endeavors.
After entering the company, Musk led a campaign to reduce expenses, which included reducing employment from 7,500 employees to 1,000 employees only, in a manner described by some as “unwise mass layoffs”, but the decline in losses, which sometimes reached $ 4 million per day in November. November 2022, made some restore confidence in the policies of Emperor Tesla.
