Wurzen/Grimma. The district of Leipzig grants its Muldental clinics a loan of ten million euros. That was decided by the district council in Neukieritzsch. This is to prevent an imminent insolvency. The clinics are a standard care hospital with locations in Grimma and Wurzen, which belongs to the district.
The district council also elected Julia Alexandra Schütte as the new managing director. By the end of September, she is to work out the development potential of the two hospital locations with corresponding specializations. The district council also voted to implement a previously prepared renovation concept with the addition of a further “qualification of the measures”.
No more loans in the future
In addition to a reduction in staff, the concept envisages, among other things, that only outpatient operations should take place in Wurzen in the future and only Grimma should remain as an inpatient location. There had previously been violent protests against this.
“The restructuring goals are set with a positive annual financial statement from 2026 and the exclusion of renewed shareholder loans,” the district council resolution continues. This would exclude new loans from the district for its clinics in the future.
According to the renovation concept, the number of beds should drop from 355 to 253. 55 full-time positions, including 35 doctor positions, are to disappear. 977 people are currently working at the Muldental Clinics. (all)
