(CNN) — Shortly after a CNN producer in Jerusalem heard explosions on Friday, the Islamic Jihad’s al-Quds Brigades announced that it had fired rockets at Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Israeli settlements in the West Bank, describing it as “revenge of the free.”
The movement said: “The launch towards Jerusalem is a message and everyone must understand its purpose. Jerusalem is before our eyes, and what is happening there is not isolated from Gaza.”
The Israeli army did not immediately have information about the firing of rockets towards Jerusalem, but it said that there was a “dangerous barrage (missile)”, after announcing earlier, Friday, that it had targeted the “Islamic Jihad” in Gaza.
Sirens sounded at least five times in Israel on Friday morning, warning of rocket fire coming from areas around Gaza, but there were no immediate sirens in Jerusalem.
