In celebration of art as a tool that combines respect for heritage and heritage, interest and widespread knowledge of artistic languages, and the search for new forms of collaboration from the perspective of sustainability and innovation, a new multi-year partnership between Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro and the House of FENDI.
The first fruit of this partnership is an exhibition [أرنالدو بومودورو.. مسرح الحضارات العظيم]as of May 12, 2023, at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome, where FENDI is headquartered.
This partnership is a natural progression of the relationship that developed between the Foundation and the Maison in 2013, when FENDI made its headquarters in the Foundation’s former exhibition space, Via Solari 35, in Milan. It is the place that houses the environmental work entitled Ingresso nel labirinto, which is one of the most important works of Arnaldo Pomodoro, and the most representative of the Italian sculptor’s artistic career.
Among the various activities planned by the Foundation and FENDI is Arnaldo Pomodoro’s reinterpretation of the famous Peekaboo bag, created by Silvia Venturini Fendi in 2008. This activity is part of the global Canvas Peekaboo project, in which, starting in 2014, artists participated. And designers and prominent personalities, in order to create unique pieces that represent special testimonies for the house.
With his creation, Pomodoro wanted to discuss the function of using the bag as an object, transforming it into a mysterious, visionary object, perhaps as a medieval shield, a mythical animal covered with sharp thorns, or even as an exotic flower with long pistils.
