When Queen Elizabeth passed away in September, aged 96, took immediately her son Charles (74) above the throne. Since then, the 74-year-old has been king in Great Britain, but the actual coronation did not take place until last week.
Never happened before
During the ceremony, a traditional and historic event in Westminster Abbey, King Charles and Queen Camilla were crowned King and Queen while “the whole world” watched.
Even before the packed program for the ceremony started, the king must have been annoyed because he and Camilla arrived at the coronation church earlier than planned. according to SkyNews the king is said to have complained to his wife that they “never manage to arrive on time”.
Journalist and former BBC presenter Jenni Murray (73) took note of this observation, and in a comment for the Daily Mail she questions how the king will handle the pressure that awaits in the future.
Breaking the silence
– Honestly, they both looked exhausted, Murray writes in the comment, before she says that she asked herself how long it might be until the next coronation ceremony.
– I hope that the King has inherited the extraordinary genes that took his grandmother into the next century, and his mother and father into their 90s, but I don’t remember any of them looking as tired and distant as King Charles and Queen Camilla did on Saturday, writes Murray.
Confirms: Gets time off
The journalist adds that she herself, who is the same age as the king, had not considered such a busy lifestyle as the king now faces.
– I wish them all the best, but I recommend that they consider an “early” pension as a possibility. Maybe they should plan to work until they are 80 and then give the throne to a 46-year-old Prince William?, asks Murray.
