The Supercharger charging network offered by the electric car manufacturer Tesla is one of the biggest advantages of Tesla in the world – they have their own and extensive charging network. The manufacturer has decided to reduce charging prices in the Supercharger network in many parts of Europe.
Cheaper driving is regularly mentioned as one of the biggest advantages of an electric car – electricity is mostly cheaper than fuel, although not always. During the last year, we have experienced huge fluctuations in electricity prices due to the war started by Russia in Ukraine, as a result of which prices in electric car charging networks both in Latvia and elsewhere in the world rose significantly. At least electricity prices are coming back within reason and so are charging prices.
The charging price in the Supercharger network in Europe has decreased by an average of 10-20%. The exact price reduction varies slightly from country to country. In some countries, such as Spain, the price has been reduced by as much as 25 percent. The charging price of the Supercharger in Europe is particularly important for Tesla, because individual charging points are also available to owners of machines from other car manufacturers, as a result of which Tesla can make additional profits. Supercharger prices in Latvia are not very relevant for the time being, because for the time being it is possible to charge for free at both Latvian Supercharger charging points. It has also caused enough conflict situations in Riga, but that is a separate story.
