The 18-year-old who stole a locomotive from the Medgidia station and took it for a walk and filmed it. The amateur mechanic had big plans: he wanted to reach Palas Constanța, which is 30 kilometers away, he writes clubferoviar.ro.
The quoted source published on Thursday some discussions that appear to be between the young man and the investigative bodies. During the dialogue, locomotive sirens are heard in the background which would suggest that it takes place in the station.

The young man was detained
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, in the Medgidia station, and the locomotive involved belongs to Grup Feroviar Român (GFR).
The young man entered the driver’s cab, raised and connected the pantograph, after which he set the locomotive in motion. The locomotive then reached another line, where it stopped. The incident could turn into a disaster if the locomotive had entered the traffic line of another passenger or freight train, ClubFevoriar.ro also reports.
The young man who set the locomotive in motion was detained by the TF Medgidia Police.
The County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) Constanţa informed that the man was incarcerated in the Detention and Preventive Arrest Center of the IPJ, and that he will be presented to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Medgidia Court on Friday, with a legal proposal.
The young man is accused of committing the crimes of destruction or false signaling and theft for the purpose of use, the investigations being carried out by the policemen of the Constanţa Transport Police Regional Section, under the coordination of a prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Medgidia District Court.
According to the Locomotive Staff Instruction, during the draw the locomotive must be secured against starting, disconnected from the power source and locked.
However, sources from CFR Călători told ClubFeroviar.ro that the company’s locomotives cannot be locked, because “none of them have locks”.
