Zaragoza designates new streets in honor of Laura Gómez-Lacueva, Corita Viamonte, Carlos Sanchez Ezquerra, and José Luis Pellicena, and approves public employment offer for 2023.

The Government of Zaragoza has approved designating four newly opened streets, specifically to the Zaragoza municipality of Sestrica, to the actress Laura Gómez-Lacueva, to the coupletist and singer Corita Viamonte, and to the cartoonist Carlos Sánchez Ezquerra. All these designations will be attributed to a new area of ​​the city next to Avenida de Cataluña.

In the case of Gómez-Lacueva, who passed away on March 30, The deputy mayor of Zaragoza herself announced in a plenary session the intention of the city government to assign a street in honor of her, given her extensive and recognized career on national television (“La que se avecina” or “El pueblo”), on Aragonese screens (“Oregón TV”), in the cinema (“Uncertain glory”, “From your window to mine” or “El Reino”) and the theater (“The extinct poetics” or “You turned my mourning into dance”).

In the same way, one of the Spanish cartoonists with the greatest international projection, Carlos Sanchez Ezquerrawho passed away in October 2018, will have another vial, in recognition of his important career as co-creator of such relevant comics as “Rat Pack”, Judge Dredd” or “Bloody Mary”.

Likewise, the artist Corita Viamonte will share a street in the same area with the previous ones. The cupletista and singer celebrated her 70-year career on stage in 2022 with a performance at the Teatro Principal and thus adds another recognition to the numerous tributes, prizes and awards that the so-called “last violetera” has garnered.

Besides, there will be three new pedestrian walkways in the Zaragoza street, in this case one of them dedicated to the theater actor José Luis Pellicena, born in Zaragoza and very popular for movies like “Television Stories”. His extensive career, especially with classical texts, made him go through works such as “Awakening the Sleeper”, “El burlador de Sevilla”, “The benefit of the doubt”, “Marat-Sade”, “The death of a salesman”, “Yerma”, “La gallarda” or “The picture of Dorian Gray”.

PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT OFFER

Besidesthe Zaragoza City Council has given the go-ahead to the 2023 public employment offer that includes 356 positions, of which 34 will be for Firefighters and 67 for Local Police.
