The head of Cucaicor, Héctor Álvarez, spoke this Thursday on the radio of the Diario El Litoral about the comic book contest organized by the institution, the state of donations and the medical advances implemented in Corrientes.
In the first instance, the director of the provincial body commented on the 2023 comics competition. It is a contest in which 4th, 5th and 6th grade students from Corrientes schools participate and this year includes 1st, 2nd and 3rd year from highschool.
The objective of this year is to make a comic that serves to raise awareness about the donation of organs, tissues and cells.
According to the data thrown by the doctor, “Corrientes has around 1,300 transplant recipients and 700 donors.”
“Transplants cure diseases, save lives, but without donors there are no transplants,” said the head of Cucaicor.
Lastly, Álvarez highlighted the commitment of more than 1,200 mothers from Corrientes who signed up to donate blood extracted from the umbilical cord.
“The blood is sent to the Garrahan Hospital for any Argentine child who needs it,” he concluded.
