PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Technology and defense group Thales announced on Thursday that it has won a new electronic cover contract for US passports from the US Government Publishing Office (GPO) for a period of up to at ten years old. The amount of this contract has not been disclosed.
“Since 2005, Thales has delivered more than 127 million electronic covers to GPO. With this contract, Thales is once again cooperating to provide secure technology and components for US passport covers,” the French group said in a statement.
The GPO manufactures US passports, including many of its components, for the State Department, which then personalizes them for travelers, government officials and US diplomats, Thales said.
