The exam period started more than a month ago for just under 40,000 pre-vocational secondary education students. From 3 April, schools were able to conduct digital final exams for students in VMBO primary and secondary education.

Exams without corona rules for the first time
Due to the corona pandemic, different rules have applied to final exams in recent years. For example, students could take an extra resit and spread their exams. The reason for this was distance education during the pandemic. This year those exam relaxations will expire.
The National Action Committee for Students (LAKS) disagrees. Today’s final exam students have had to deal with school closures, lockdowns and cancellations for the longest time in their school career. Yet they will not be given an extra opportunity to resit, Education Minister Dennis Wiersma recently announced.
The situation is still challenging for some students, the minister acknowledges. “But the candidates must be well prepared for society, the labor market and further education.”
Complaint line final exams opened
As of today, the LAKS final exam complaint line is also open. Students can go there with their complaints about the final tests. Wiersma will be present at the LAKS on Thursday afternoon to listen to the problems by telephone.
Complaints and comments have already been received from students who are afraid that they are not properly prepared, the LAKS reports. According to some, the exam material was sometimes covered in a few lessons or not at all.
