The police confirm that a man lost his life after the moped he was driving ended up in the river.
A moped driver drove off the road and, according to the police, ended up in a river in Agder shortly before 9pm on Wednesday evening.
The police’s task leader informs the newspaper Fædrelandsvennen that the deceased is an adult man.
The moped driver was brought ashore by personnel from the fire service and other people at the scene of the accident. Life-saving first aid was administered, but life could not be saved.
– People on the spot have made an effort to get him out of the river, says operations manager Linn Andersen in the Agder police district.
– Don’t know what has happened
The man was pronounced dead by health personnel at the scene, the police said at 21:34.
The police have been working on the scene together with the National Roads Administration following the accident. Among other things, technical examinations of the moped and the road are carried out.
– We will talk to possible witnesses, carry out investigations at the scene and make an assessment of what could be the cause of the accident. We don’t know what has happened here and have to take all scenarios into account, says operations manager Andersen.
Have spoken to witnesses
Fædrelandsvennen has spoken to the police’s task leader, Tommy Osestad. He says that two people must have witnessed the accident.
– An on-site questioning has been carried out. As I understand it, there is more than one witness who had information about the incident. I dare not comment on the course of events, says operations manager Knut Odde to VG.
It is not known what the witnesses have explained about the sequence of events.
