The creators of the Mortal Kombat fighting game series have published a new teaser hinting at the announcement of the twelfth part of the franchise. A short video was published on the social networks of the game and on YouTube.
The video shows a clock showing 11:44. At the same time, their second hand stops at the number 11, and then immediately jumps to the number 1, as if someone had rewound time. Fans saw this as yet another hint of a reboot of the franchise. The video is also accompanied by the inscription: “Soon.”
The first hints about the future of Mortal Kombat 12 were seen in the anniversary video in honor of the 30th anniversary of the studio NetherRealm. Fans discovered Kronika’s watch, which Liu Kang used to change the course of time in the last part. From this, many have concluded that in the 12th part of the franchise, the timeline can be restarted again.
The last game in the Mortal Kombat series came out in 2019. A spin-off fighting game for mobile devices, subtitled Onslaught, is scheduled for release in 2023. Rumors about Mortal Kombat 12 have been around for a long time: for example, Warner Bros. David Zaslav, in a dialogue with investors, has already mentioned a new game in the series, and insiders assumed that the announcement would take place in May.
