7-Eleven announced on the 10th that it had decided not to sell any more soju once the stock of one cup of soju it currently has is exhausted.
▲ Seven-Eleven will stop selling ‘Soju Hanjan’, which was released with singer Lim Chang-jung, after running out of stock. |
Seven-Eleven launched a premium distilled soju in February in partnership with singer Lim Chang-jung. It was so popular that all 100,000 units were sold in just one month.
In order to develop a cup of soju, Lim personally drank nationally famous soju for several months and perfected the taste with a liquor expert. She is known to have participated in the entire process from selecting raw materials to bottle design.
It is interpreted that 7-Eleven stopped selling a glass of soju because Lim was surrounded by suspicions that he was involved in the recent stock crash caused by SG Securities.
7-Eleven tried to watch the situation when Lim claimed that he was also a victim, but it seems that they decided to stop selling as public opinion deteriorated. Reporter Lim Min-gyu
