At the origin of this story, the woman, passing through a car wash station, had loaded her grand-nephew in a stroller. Taking her eyes off the object for a few seconds, she had watched helplessly as it fled, driven by violent winds. She then tried to catch up with the infant, before falling after a few steps.

It was at this precise moment that Ron Nessman, seated on a bench near the stage, had rushed to rescue the baby. The latter was heading dangerously towards a double lane of traffic, surveyed by vehicles traveling at high speed. “I didn’t even have time to think about it. We react, that’s all”, declared the author of the rescue to the local news channel KOVR-TV, taken up by The Guardian.

“I felt so bad for this woman. I have nephews and nieces. I can imagine something like this happening. I couldn’t have lived with myself if I hadn’t done anything, of course. I am happy to have realized this and to have taken matters into my own hands,” explained the hero of the day.

Homeless after the death of his partner

Homeless for almost eight years, Ron Nessman had been living with his sister for the past few months. He explained to the local channel that he had been left homeless following the shocking death of his girlfriend. “It was sudden and I didn’t want to do anything,” commented the former truck driver.

In search of a job, he had gone on May 1 to pass a job interview as a dishwasher in this Applebee’s restaurant in California. Thanks to the buzz caused by his heroic deed, Ron Nessman received multiple job offers in the field of painting and truck driving. He was finally hired three days later by the restaurant chain for which he had initially applied.
