Naples at the top. From 12 May to 4 June 2023
Discovering the city in its dizzying aerial dimension: it is “Naples at the top” the programmatic title of the XXIX edition of the Maggio dei Monumenti, which will take place this year from 12 May to 4 June 2023. After the success of May 2022 dedicated to the theme of the earth with “wall”, the exploration of the elements of the city continues with a new account of its cultural heritage, this time in the sign of the air.
Promoted by the Municipality of Naples with the funding of the Metropolitan City, the event offers a calendar of over 80 events with free admission. The theme at the center of May of Monuments 2023 will find a plurality of original declinations with historical-artistic itineraries, dance performances, theatrical performances, concerts, films, readings and special initiatives.
Outside May
On the sidelines of the activities directly promoted by the Municipality, the project of the “Stairs coordination” which enhances a fundamental resource of the city thanks to the contribution of the citizens, and which never like this year, by narrating the differences in level of the city, from the platforms to the lobs to the steps to the climbs, will contribute to revealing that vertical dimension that makes Naples a heavenly city , or rather, blue.
In the 2023 edition there is the section “Outside May”, programming segment that includes independent initiatives organized in compliance with a specific invitation launched by the Municipality of Naples. “Scale di Maggio”, “The tour of the Neapolitan song”, “The art and medical science of the Anatomical Museum”, “San Giorgio ai Mannesi. From earth to sky” are just some of the many activities promoted by associations, museums and individual operators. Particularly significant, then, the presence in the XXIX edition of the event The school adopts a monument®, curated by the Napoli Novantanove Foundation, which connects the Maggio dei Monumenti to its founding moment. The Roman Baths of via Terracina, Fontana di Spinacorona and other sites can be visited and rediscovered thanks to the commitment of Neapolitan teachers and students.
