AZ travels to England without Jesper Karlsson and Milos Kerkez for the Conference League match against West Ham United. The Swede is still struggling with a muscle injury, reports The Telegraph. His Hungarian teammate is absent due to a suspension.
Karlsson played his last match on April 13 against RSC Anderlecht in the European tournament. Then the winger didn’t look underarms fresh, as some risk was taken with his fitness by letting him start. The winger returned from international duties in March with minor complaints and has since performed worse than before his injury. His partner on the left flank, Kerkez, was suspended in the home game against Anderlecht, when AZ was too strong for the Belgian opponent on penalties (2-0, AZ won 4-1 on penalties)
The dynamic duo of the Alkmaarders is making a name for itself in Europe this season and also performs excellently domestically. In addition to Karlsson and Kerkez, AZ still misses Dani de Wit and Bruno Martins Indi. Jens Odgaard is fit and travels with the selection to England. He seemed to be injured against Ajax on Saturday, but that turned out to be a small shock.
The match between AZ and West Ham will be played on Thursday evening at 9 p.m. at the London Stadium.
