“Netherlands Eliminated from Eurovision 2023: Mia and Dion’s Burning Daylight fails to make the Final”

The Netherlands has been eliminated in the semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest. The number Burning Daylight by Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper was not enough to convince the televoters to vote the Dutch entry for the final on Saturday.

Cooper and Nicolai received heavy criticism after a few failed performances, after which the song was raised by a tone and a half two weeks ago. A choir was also put behind it. The duo started the performance tonight fragile, but nowhere did it really get out of tune. It just wasn’t enough to convince the home voters.

It is the first time in eight years that the Netherlands will miss the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2015, Trijntje Oosterhuis failed to win enough votes. She then finished fourteenth in the semifinals.
