Putin’s Victory Day Parade Attendance with Controversial “Veterans”

On May 9, Vladimir Putin appeared at the victory parade on Red Square in the company of two veterans who did not fight against the Nazis.

Vladimir Putin, who considers himself a connoisseur of history, appeared at the Victory Day celebrations in the company of NKVD and KGB veterans who had nothing to do with the events of World War II.

“Agency” drew attention to the neighbors of the owner of the Kremlin during the parade on Red Square. 98-year-old was placed on the right hand of Putin Yuri Dvoikin. In 1942, he enlisted in the army as a volunteer, but did not get to the front. His “exploits” began after graduating from the school of snipers, when in 1944 Dvoikin, as part of the NKVD, was transferred to the Lvov region. The task of the “veteran” was an operation to “eliminate the nationalist underground on the territory of Western Ukraine.”

Much later “veteran” confessedthat he went to kill people about whom he knew absolutely nothing. But at the same time, he assures that the “Banderites” shot more than 5,000 people in just two days and even felt like masters in Lvov.

We cleared the entire region from nationalists, caught in the forests, abandoned farms“, – recalled the NKVD officer.

On the left side of Putin, Gennady Zaitsev was seated. This “veteran” was born in 1934, and by simple mathematical calculations it can be found out that, due to his age, he could not have been a participant in World War II. He was called up for military service only in 1953, and after the end of military service he remained in the army. In 1959 he began to serve in the KGB.

In the biography of this Russian there is a line about participation in the events of the Prague Spring. Zaitsev was assigned to participate in the entry of Soviet troops into Czechoslovakia to suppress anti-Soviet protests. Under his leadership, the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Prague was captured. In the 1970s, Zaitsev headed the Alfa anti-terrorist group created by Andropov.

Recall that the Russian army bled dry by defeats in Ukraine on May 9, 2023 rolled out there was only one tank for the parade, there were no elite units.

in the National Security and Defense Council considerthat the celebrations on the occasion of May 9 showed the fear of the dictator of the Russian Federation. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned visit to Moscow for the parade of the leaders of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
