Stromae announces the “premature end” of its tour Multitude for health reasons.
In a message on Twitter, the Belgian singer explains that a few months ago, he felt a “deterioration” in his state of health, which “led him to give up a few first dates in France, then in Europe” . He hoped to be able to rest, surrounded by his family, then “get back on the road”, but he now admits that this rest period will be longer than expected.
Stromae, suffering from exhaustion, had taken a six-year hiatus from performing, from 2015 to 2021, after his previous mega-tour. He then devoted himself to music production and his clothing collection.
In a recent song, Hellhe recounts the malaise that inhabited him during these years and even evokes suicidal thoughts.
The tour Multitude, which began in February 2022, was due to end next December. But Stromae cancels the shows scheduled for June in Brussels, Lille and Paris, then all those in the fall in several cities in France and in Amsterdam, as well as the grand finale in Brussels at the beginning of December.
He will also not be from the Werchter festival, in Belgium, nor from the Down the Rabbit Hole festival in the Netherlands, at the end of June, beginning of July.
Stromae’s tour ended last fall in Quebec, with five shows in Montreal and Quebec in November and December.
“This decision is difficult but necessary to be able to get better,” he wrote on Tuesday, before apologizing “for these missed appointments that I was waiting for as much as you, and which I have to give up in spite of myself”.
