REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Thailand shifted Cambodia to the top of the medal standings SEA Games 2023, while Indonesia dropped one place to fifth place, Tuesday (9/5/2023) evening.
On the fourth day of holding the 2023 SEA Games, Indonesia managed to add three gold. The Indonesian vovinam team won gold in the Women’s Doubles Knife Form Category which was strengthened by Putu Wahana Maha Yoni and Ni Made Purnami.
The gold medal was also presented by the women’s team number tennis team after successfully beating the Thai team 2-1 in the final round. The men’s team soft tennis team also contributed gold to the Indonesian contingent by defeating Thailand 2-1 in the final.
The additional three gold seems not enough for Indonesia to reclaim the highest position after being in second place.
Indonesia dropped one place to fifth place on Tuesday night. Not only the Red and White team, Cambodia also experienced a change in position, which from the start led at the top of the acquisition standings SEA Games Medal 2023.
The hosts dropped to third. In contrast, Thailand, which placed third the previous day, is now at the top of the standings with 40 gold medals.
Vietnam trails in second with 39 gold medals, the same number as Cambodia. Meanwhile, the Philippines, which was in fifth position the day before, succeeded in shifting Indonesia. Despite having the same number of gold medals as Indonesia, the Philippines collected a total of more medals than the Red and White team, which made it move up to fourth place.
