Turin –
Juventus still not safe from sanctions. The Old Lady is now threatened with a reduction of nine points, a situation that knocked them out of the zone Liga Champions.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) had imposed a 15-point penalty on Juventus. Bianconeri accused of inflating the transfer value financially.
Juventus then submitted an appeal to CONI in early March 2023. Their appeal was accepted by CONI’s prosecutor, Ugo Taucer, a month later and decided that the penalty for deducting Juventus’ points was no longer valid.
Nevertheless, Juventus still have to wait for a new trial that must be completed within 30 days. The new sanctions could remain in effect this season if the Turin club are found guilty.
Launch Football ItaliaJuventus is still stuck in Article 4 which includes the rules fair play and sporting probity in the sports justice system. The Old Lady was still threatened with a point deduction penalty.
The most likely course of action is for the court to return to the original request of the FIGC prosecutor, Giuseppe Chine, for a 9-point deduction instead of 15. Juventus still have to wait for the court’s decision on May 24 or 25.
If found guilty, this would make Juventus drop from second place with 66 points to seventh with 57 points. AC Milan will rise to fourth with 61 points, followed by Atalanta and AS Roma with 58 points.
This reduction was also because the appeals of several figures in the Juventus board of directors were granted, thus limiting the blame only to figures whose ban was confirmed.
Pavel Nedved, Paolo Garimberti, Assia Grazioli-Venier, Caitlin Mary Hughes, Daniela Marilungo and Francesco Roncaglio were all cleared of wrongdoing. However, Andrea Agnelli, Fabio Paratici, Federico Cherubini and Maurizio Arrivabene are still considered responsible for the scandal that ensnared Juventus.
