Public Transport Authority Reports 284 Violations of Land Transport Regulations in 2022

The Public Transport Authority revealed that it monitored 284 violations of land transport regulations during the year 2022 AD, including violations of “the driver smoking inside the truck” and “the driver smoking or allowing passengers to do so inside taxis.”

According to official data obtained byNews 24The authority monitored 6.3 thousand violations of the driver smoking inside the truck, and 88 violations of the driver smoking or allowing passengers to do so inside the taxis under the supervision of the authority, for which fines were imposed on the perpetrators.

It is worth mentioning that the regulations regulating the activity of transporting goods and renting trucks on land roads set a fine for the driver smoking inside the truck at 500 riyals, while the fine for the violation of the driver smoking inside a truck transporting hazardous materials was doubled to 1000 riyals.

In addition, the violations varied between operating a transport vehicle without obtaining an operating card, using a vehicle in the activity for a period exceeding the approved operational life, loading goods in an unsafe manner, and the taxi driver’s refusal to show his documents when requested by the service controller.

The violations also included the driver’s refusal to provide the transportation service or refrain from continuing to provide it during working hours or after the start of the trip, loading bags and luggage, or any other movables without accompanying their owners, and loading and unloading goods in places not designated for that.

The violations also included allowing passengers to load any sharp tools or materials that could harm other passengers inside the bus cabin.
