Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (RI), Mohammad Syahril, revealed that the government has provided HIV testing services in almost all health facilities (faskes).
“Both in puskesmas and hospitals, almost all of them already have services to screen for HIV and also for other sexually transmitted diseases, including syphilis,” said Syahril in a virtual press conference entitled ‘Protecting Children from Sexually Transmitted Diseases’ on Monday, ( 8/5/2023).
Furthermore, he revealed, all HIV testing services at health facilities are provided free of charge, aka no payment.
“Also, several private clinics already exist (HIV screening services). Some NGOs have clinics that will work together with hospitals or health centers that can carry out screening,” he explained.
If HIV Test Result is Positive, Consult
Syahril said, if the screening results were positive, he could immediately consult a specialist.
“If found positive, then of course you have to consult the specialist doctor at the health center or hospital, to get treatment,” explained the Main Director of RSPI Prof. Dr. Sulianti Saroso since 2020.
He added, not only HIV, screening for other sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis was also provided.
“Including those with syphilis too, a doctor must be consulted. There are drugs for syphilis for primary and secondary syphilis, also for latent syphilis. There are also drugs given to pregnant and non-pregnant women,” added Syahril.
