After the pandemic, the number of insured travelers has increased by 178%, according to IATI
MADRID, 9 (EUROPA PRESS)
Half of Spanish tourists take out travel insurance for their getaways and vacations, according to the IATI Seguros website, which highlights that the purchase of travel insurance has increased by 68% compared to the figures before the pandemic and has grown 178% compared to last year.
The pandemic has generated greater awareness among travelers who have increased the purchase of travel insurance, whether it is for short breaks or for distant destinations.
Most of these insurances also include the option of the cancellation supplement, which has been incorporated into the purchasing habits of travelers in recent years. Compared to the year before the pandemic, 2019, recruitment increased by 48% and in the last year it has increased by 165%.
“This interest in traveling with peace of mind confirms the desire to move that exists in society, but also the awareness that there are risks and problems that occur before and during trips,” explains Alfonso Calzado, CEO of IATISeguros.
The Spaniards return to travel safely mainly to ‘star’ summer destinations such as the United States, France, Italy or Morocco. In fact, these destinations represent almost a third of the total. Although the presence of domestic destinations has also increased when it comes to securing a trip.
