Election on May 23rd
The 47-year-old from Remscheid would like to help change politics in NRW. Those are his reasons.
Remscheid/Dusseldorf. The 47-year-old from Remscheid announced his application on Tuesday in a letter to the parliamentary group from the German Press Agency. The lawyer threw his hat in the ring as the first applicant to succeed parliamentary group leader Thomas Kutschaty.
“I want to show people through our work that we have solutions to the problems of our time,” said Wolf on Tuesday when asked by dpa. The start of the black-green state government in North Rhine-Westphalia was “lacking ideas and drive”. NRW can do more. He wants to make his contribution to this. The “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger” reported first.
Nothing was initially known about further applications for the head of the largest opposition faction in the state parliament. The SPD parliamentary group wants to elect a new leadership on May 23. The previous faction leader Kuchaty had announced his withdrawal from the leadership of the faction in March and has also resigned as SPD state party leader.
The North Rhine-Westphalian SPD fell to a historic low of 26.7 percent in the state elections in mid-May 2022. Kuschaty had been head of the largest SPD state association since 2021 and parliamentary group leader since 2018. dpa
