“Minister of Health Directs Urgent Help for Doctor in Need of Complex Surgeries”

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, directed Dr. Mohamed Hassan to provide the necessary joints and follow up on his health condition, after he posted a distress call on Facebook yesterday, requesting his help to perform 4 joint replacement surgeries for the pelvis and shoulders.

Doctor Mohamed Hassan, who works at the Ministry of Health in Alexandria, said that he was infected with the Corona virus while performing his work during the Corona pandemic as a result of dealing with infected cases during the examination, before severe symptoms appeared on him, and attempts to treat him at home failed, so he was transferred to the hospital and spent 25 days until his recovery. Months later, new symptoms appeared on him, represented by joint pain, and he was diagnosed with necrotic erosion in multiple joints in his body.

The doctor explained that he needs to perform 4 joint replacement operations for the pelvis and shoulders, while these operations are among the most complex surgeries, and the price of one operation ranges between 120 to 180 thousand pounds.

For his part, an informed source in the Ministry of Health stressed, in statements to Masrawy, that the Minister of Health, upon seeing the doctor’s distress, immediately directed to provide the necessary joints for the doctor, to quickly perform surgeries, and to follow up on his condition until he recovered.

According to the decision of the Health Insurance Authority, the patient’s examinations were reviewed and his condition was reviewed. It was found that he needs surgical intervention to replace the hip joint with a complete non-cement joint, provided that the first surgery is performed at Al-Hilal Hospital in Ramses.

It is expected that Doctor Mohamed Hassan will be booked in the coming hours at Al-Hilal Hospital to perform the first surgery.
