Relatives of gambling addicts signal that gambling halls do not check the identity cards of visitors. This makes it pointless to renew the register of people with a gambling addiction. It was renewed by the NRA in December and now includes more than 7,200 people. You can register in this list only in person or with a notarized power of attorney.
A concerned mother of a gambling-addicted boy contacted BNT to signal that, although her son was one of the first to be entered in the NRA register, the casinos in Kyustendil continue to allow him. On May 4, the woman told BNT about the problems.
“Casinos are letting people through again who are registered in this register, no checking is done, I can say for sure about two casinos, I won’t mention them, but I want to ask who can control this thing and after this register is of the NRA, and the NRA is the state, no one takes measures and does not exercise this control,” says the boy’s mother.
After the report aired on BNT, the NRA self-reported and carried out an inspection of all gambling halls in Kyustendil.
The institution contacted the mother for more details on the case and ordered the inspection
“On the same day, on-site inspections were carried out in the gaming halls, but no violations were found regarding the non-admission of the persons included in the register, but other violations were found, for which acts were drawn up,” said Pavel Lilov, chief revenue expert “Supervision on gambling”, NRA.
Acts are drawn up for violation of the rules for reporting profits. The NRA calls on people who have information about halls that do not comply with the law to report with specific information.
“There are over 1,000 halls in Bulgaria, we carry out maximum control, every signal is checked, so I call on them to report again,” Pavel Lilov said.
The large number of gambling addicts registered in the NRA register in just a few months speaks of a serious problem in Bulgarian society. And these are only people who have admitted their problem. The reason for this is both the many casinos and their aggressive advertising, as well as the dozens of companies for fast loans, for which there is practically no protection for consumers.
