Representative Ghayath Yazbeck expects, “In the event that a new president is not elected in the next few months, the vacuum will continue indefinitely,” repeating, “The Lebanese Forces’ position that is open to any presidential candidate does not constitute a challenge to anyone, that does not mean without color or grey.” Rather, he will be the owner of a project like MP Michel Moawad.”
In an interview on “Voice of All Lebanon,” he held Speaker Nabih Berri “responsible for disrupting the sessions to elect the President of the Republic.”
He pointed out that “Australia’s meeting between the Marada and the forces does not rise to a level more than courtesy and speaking in generalities, and comes to confirm what is certain. The solution does not come from Australia, and matters are more complicated than that, although communication with the Marada movement and with Representative Tony Franjieh is not an orphan, as we meet and talk and there is no rivalry.” in person.”
He said: “The channels of communication between the movement and the forces at the level of representatives are within the framework of the beginnings and will not develop. Our choice is not to secure a quorum for Franjieh and to guarantee two-thirds to obstruct the session in isolation from the Free Patriotic Movement. As for Representative Gebran Bassil, he will not secure a quorum for personal and other reasons, and his deputies confirm that.”
Regarding the movements of MPs Ghassan Skaf and Elias Bou Saab, “they are within the framework of repeated attempts,” declaring, “not participating in a dialogue titled marketing to Franjieh and securing a quorum for his election session.”
Yazbek acknowledged “the need to appoint a governor for the Banque du Liban, at an emergency meeting of the government, in the event that the presidential vacancy continues.”
And he put “the Saudi-Iranian agreement at the heart of the concept of strategic patience to benefit from the time, just like the nuclear dialogue,” considering that “what applies to the Houthis in Yemen applies to Hezbollah in Lebanon.”
Yazbek believed that “there is no solution to the displacement crisis without threatening the presence of President Bashar al-Assad, and it is not possible to close the vital artery to Syria without affecting Hezbollah. There is an interest between Assad and Hezbollah to keep this region under their control, and Damascus will not fall.”
Regarding the meeting of Arab foreign ministers today to discuss Syria’s return to the Arab League, he concluded: “Al-Assad’s accounts are different from Arab accounts, and Syria’s return may negatively affect Lebanon.”
