Croatia is traditionally one of the most popular holiday destinations for Czech tourists. Last year, 850,000 of them visited the Adriatic Riviera. And it will probably be the same this year, despite the fact that the Czechs will be more expensive for their vacation there.
This year’s holiday on the Croatian Adriatic coast will be significantly more expensive than in previous seasons. In March, food prices in Croatia rose by roughly seventeen percent year-on-year, o 30 percent then private accommodationwrites the Croatian server Poslovni Dnevnik.
While last year an apartment at the height of the summer season cost 60 euros per night, this year it will be about twenty euros more. For a 10-day stay, Czechs pay an extra 200 euros, which translates to less than five thousand. For example, for a week in an apartment in a popular tourist destination A family of four will pay for Split on the Booking.com server over 45 thousand crowns, and ten thousand less on the island of Murter near Šibenik.
Prices in the hospitality industry also rose significantly. According to the Croatian server hr.index by 10 to 80 percent. Of course, it varies significantly depending on the location. It is most expensive in central Dalmatia or Istria. For example, in Grilled calamari, Split’s Adriatic specialty, costs 850 crowns.
Croatian tours have become more expensive
Compared to other sought-after destinations such as Greece or Egypt, even tours organized by travel agencies have become more expensive year-on-year, by 14 percent. At the opposite pole is Tunisia, where the price of a trip has increased by only three percent compared to last year.
However, even the record price increase is not yet reflected in the number of foreigners who plan to go to Croatia. Hoteliers and hospitality entrepreneurs there are expecting a record season. Up to a million people could come to the beaches of the Adriatic from the Czech Republic alone.
Croatian real estate will become more expensive due to the euro. Especially those near the Adriatic, experts agree
Reality
Among other things, Croatia’s entry into the Eurozone will increase the number of real estate transactions. Given that real estate prices have been quoted in euros for a long time in addition to kuna, it is not expected that this would significantly affect the new prices. Although, according to experts, increased demand from foreign investors and limited supply will probably still push real estate prices up by roughly three percent.

“The weaker pace of price increases in Croatia and the most favorable exchange rate of the koruna against the local currency in the last fifteen years are the key economic reasons why Czechs are heading to Croatia in record numbers this year,” adds analyst Lukáš Kovanda.
Croats took advantage of the euro and sharply increased the price
Already last year, tourists on the Adriatic experienced the first wave of price hikes, just like other countries, Croatia was also troubled by record inflation. It has already climbed to 12 percent. The current even more dramatic increase is more or less related only to the adoption of the euro. Indeed, some Croatian hoteliers and entrepreneurs in the tourism industry took advantage of the entry into the eurozone and added something to the price of the provided services or accommodation beyond the real increase in costs.
Czech cottagers moved to the sea. It is cheaper than in Šumava
Money
Due to the sharp increase in domestic real estate prices and the attempt to avoid the devaluation of money due to inflation, more and more Czechs prefer to invest in real estate abroad. An apartment by the sea is no longer only the privilege of millionaires, says Jiří Šedivý, secretary of the Czech Building Savings Association.

However, there is one factor that will moderate the drastic impact on the wallets of domestic tourists, and that is the strong koruna. Thanks to the fact that the koruna is the strongest against the euro in almost 15 years, a family of four can save several thousand on vacation.
