Against the background of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, several private individuals have announced demonstrations in the Cologne city area. According to the police, significant traffic disruptions are to be expected on the left and right banks of the Rhine.
According to this, a pro-Russian motorcade is to drive to the Deutzer shipyard after an opening rally on Marienburger Straße in Leverkusen-Küppersteg. From there, the meeting participants want to go to an interim rally on Neven-DuMont-Strasse and then back to Deutzer Werft. Read here who is behind the pro-Russian motorcade.
Several counter-demonstrations were announced along the elevator path. Stand rallies are to take place at Heumarkt, Appellhofplatz and at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum, among other places.
Police: Use public transport
In addition, a pro-Russian motorcycle parade had been registered. This is to drive from Merianstraße in Chorweiler to a final rally at the Cologne East Cemetery on Kratzweg in Merheim.
The Cologne police have issued the applicants with assembly-related conditions: any expressions of solidarity with regard to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, as well as the showing of “Z” and “V” symbols, are prohibited to the participants.
In order to avoid the upcoming traffic disruptions, the police recommend using public transport.
