Brazilian Rodrigo led his Real Madrid team to win its twentieth title in the Spanish Football Cup competition, by scoring two goals in a 2-1 victory over Osasuna, on Saturday, at the “La Cartuja” stadium in Seville.
The Brazilian winger put Real ahead in the second minute, following up on a pass from compatriot Vinicius Junior.
The European champion did not take advantage of the early lead to allow Osasuna, who are ranked tenth in the Spanish League, to equalize in the 58th minute with a powerful shot from Lucas Toro.
But Rodrigo sealed the victory 20 minutes before the end when he evaded the marker to score from close range, after a distinguished individual effort from Venice, penetrating from the left.
The title raises the morale of Real Madrid, which is close to losing its title in the local league to rival Barcelona, before hosting Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals next Tuesday.
