Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida visits Korea tomorrow.
It has been about a month and a half since President Yoon Seok-yeol visited Japan.
At the summit between the two countries, not only security and economic issues, but also the issue of discharge of contaminated water from Fukushima will be discussed, and the plan for South Korea to directly verify safety in Japan is also on the negotiating table.
Reporter Jo Hee-hyung covered the story.

″The two leaders will actively communicate and cooperate through “shuttle diplomacy,” meeting whenever necessary, regardless of formalities.″
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will visit Seoul tomorrow, 52 days after the Korea-Japan summit in Tokyo.
The first schedule is a visit to the National Cemetery.
The leaders of the two countries will hold a summit meeting after an official welcome ceremony in the afternoon.
The issue of the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant, expected this summer, is expected to come up on the table at the meeting.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has already published an interim report stating that Japan’s discharge and monitoring plans for contaminated water can be trusted.
It is known that the government is asking Japan to send a verification team composed of Korean experts to Fukushima, separately from the IAEA.
A government official said, “It is not easy to convince the Korean people by participating in the IAEA.”
“The final decision will come at the summit,” he said.
As security and high-tech industries are also on the agenda, there is a high possibility that measures for cooperation in security and high-tech industries such as semiconductors and batteries will be discussed to respond to the North Korean nuclear issue.
Japanese media are observing that Prime Minister Kishida will once again reveal his position that he will inherit the historical awareness of the previous cabinets in relation to the past.
The opposition party strongly protested against the discharge of contaminated water in Fukushima and emphasized again that they should receive an apology from Japan for past history issues.

“It is a summit watched by our people from our land. No more ’empty-handed diplomacy’ or ‘humiliation diplomacy’ is unacceptable.″
The ruling party urged the Democratic Party to reap blind opposition to the difficultly restored Korea-Japan relationship, saying that the people’s order is to produce results for the national interest and the future.
