After six years of friendship, Kristaps Janičenoks, a former basketball player and now a sports official, has married for the second time in his life. His wife has become Rita Rieben, for whom this is not her first marriage either.

Janičenok himself said in an interview for “Santa” magazine in 2020 that Rita is the true love of his life – she was also a great support when the basketball player ended his career. Three years ago, the athlete also called his beloved woman his best friend. Both of them already turned to the strawberry growing business together.

The couple met while both were still married to other partners. “When we met, we were both married, we both have children, and it’s all very complicated. To build something on such a complicated foundation, you have to be honest. Sometimes you also have to be completely naked in front of the other so that he can get to know you for real. You have to reveal also the sides of my character that I don’t want to show on a daily basis and hide behind nine keys and countless masks,” the athlete revealed in a conversation with “Santas” journalists at the time. Janicenok and the mother of his children, Annie, divorced in 2017 – the couple had been together for seven years, five of them as a married couple.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Janicenok has realized that he wants to be with Rita. “Our relationship developed very slowly, very slowly, and I’d be lying if I said it was easy at first,” he said. Well, Rita and Kristaps have also officially become a married couple.
