The South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Health Service (Dinkes) appealed to be vigilant in preparing for an increase in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases in the local district.
“As of May 4 2023, 58 cases have been recorded,” said the Head of the HSS Health Office, Hj Siti Zainab in a statement on the DHF case and handling of stunting, in Kandangan, HSS, South Kalimantan, Saturday.
Zainab explained, the Health Office had issued a circular regarding preparedness for the potential increase in DHF, and then with an appeal in the form of a Circular Letter (SE) of the HSS Regent, concerning efforts to deal with DHF.

His party appealed to the public to eradicate mosquito nests (PSN) with 3 M (draining, closing and burying) plus recycling or utilizing goods, as well as using mosquito repellents.
In addition, in order to activate the one house one larva monitoring program (jumantik), to monitor mosquito larvae in homes, as well as assess risk factors for the potential for dengue fever in the surrounding environment.
Head of Public Health and Health Information Systems (Kesmas and SIK) of the HSS Health Office, Daru Priyanto, added that out of 58 DHF cases in HSS District, there were no fatalities.
“There have been no reports of deaths due to dengue, and the number of dengue cases in HSS Regency has certainly increased by the fifth month of this year,” said Daru.
Meanwhile, for the handling of stunting cases, Zainab again explained, currently it is known to be carried out with two treatment models, both specific and sensitive interventions.

“For specific interventions, we from the Health Office specifically do it intensively, starting with young women by giving iron tablets, when they get married they go to the health center with immunizations,” said Zainab.
Then, when she is pregnant, she checks her pregnancy and gives birth at a health facility, her child must be taken to the pusyandu, get immunized, and given exclusive breast milk (ASI).
In addition, for school children, periodic checks are carried out at their school, and there are also efforts made by providing additional food.
