Twitter Admits Privacy Breach with Circles Feature

Twitter has admitted to a privacy breach that allowed tweets to be seen by accounts outside a user’s exclusive list of friends. The feature, called Circles, allows Twitter users to post tweets that only members of their exclusive list can read. However, a security incident earlier this year meant that some tweets were visible to users outside of a user’s Circle. The company has attributed such issues to cost-cutting measures and severe layoffs that have resulted in system failures and lack of moderation. However, the company has vowed to protect user privacy and fix the issue.
