Japan celebrates Children’s Day on May 5th, so Square Enix shared details on the character design of young Tifa in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Here are some concept art and in-game renderings of her at the age of eight and thirteen.

Both at one and at another age, she wore feminine outfits, in contrast to the sports wardrobe that she wears in adulthood.

When she was eight years old, Tifa wore a white dress. It has pockets, which is very convenient for her. At the age of thirteen, she began to wear sandals without socks, which now have a higher heel. In her youth, Tifa always wore her hair loose. Since she now wears a ponytail as an adult to keep her hair out of the way during combat, this hairstyle may be more practical than fashion.

In Japan, Children’s Day is the last day of Golden Week. On Children’s Day, families set off koinobori (carp-shaped wind clocks), display miniature Japanese armor and dolls, and eat kawshiwamochi and chimaki.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on PS4, PS5 and Windows PC. Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is also expected to be released in 2023 for mobile devices.
