Until June, the engineering firm Englobe will visit residents whose homes are located near the new Hydro-Québec La Prairie – New York line, in order to list the wells and private waste treatment infrastructures. waters that might get in its way.
Hydro-Quebec says it has targeted an area of approximately 20 to 40 meters on each side of the route of the underground line to carry out its inventory. The state-owned company says it took into consideration the types of work and the equipment to be used to carry them out.
“We can then determine whether specific measures will have to be taken in terms of project engineering,” explains Hydro-Québec.
Residents affected in La Prairie and Saint-Philippe will be visited between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., informs Hydro-Québec.
Beginning of the roadworks
Other environmental and geotechnical analyzes will be carried out over the next few weeks in order to obtain the government authorizations required for the start of the work planned for the end of the year.
The La Prairie – New York interconnection line was the subject of an investigation by the Bureau des audiences publiques en environnement (BAPE), which issued three recommendations on soil compaction, energy transition and monitoring of the performance of farming lands.
