Nele Gilis has qualified for the second round of the World Squash Championships after her 3-0 victory over Egypt’s Zeina Zein on Thursday in Chicago in the United States.
Gilis, 11th in the world and seeded N.11, only needed three sets (11-6, 11-4, 11-3) to overcome Zein, 57th player in the world. In the second round, she will face the French Melissa Alves, 20th in the world, whom she has already beaten twice in three confrontations.
On Wednesday, Tinne Gilis, 14th in the world, seeded N.12 and little sister of Nele, also qualified for the second round after her 3-0 victory against the Spaniard Cristina Gomez (PSA 53). She will be opposed to the Japanese Satomi Watanabe (PSA 19) in the second round.
