A wildfire broke out in the Paaskamp nature reserve in Witten just after midnight. According to a spokesman for the fire service, an area of about 300 by 100 meters was on fire.
Around three o’clock last night, the Drenthe Security Region reported that the fire was under control. The fire brigade remained present for control, this morning a team specialized in wildfire fighting will be on site.
An NL Alert was issued due to smoke development. The fire service called on bystanders to stay away and to give the fire trucks space.
