Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Russia has named the culprit behind the drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Kremlin, early Wednesday. But not Ukraine but the United States (US).
“The decision for such an attack is not made in Kyiv, but in Washington,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. AFP, Thursday (4/5/2023).
“Kyiv is just doing what it’s told. Washington should make it clear that we know this,” he added.
Peskov also reiterated that Putin still remains in office in the Kremlin after the incident. But security measures in Moscow will be stepped up after the attack.
“Of course everything will be strengthened. Everything has been strengthened in preparation for the Victory Day parade on May 9,” he said again referring to the celebration of the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II which will be held by Russia.
Previously, Russia had also reported a series of drone attacks on its transport and oil facilities. Russia also blamed Ukraine for the attack.
“The terrorist and sabotage activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are gaining unprecedented momentum,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“Russia has the right to take retaliatory measures,” he added.
