This Mental Health Week, young people may not be doing as badly as you might think.

This is according to Marianne Boire, editor-in-chief of the magazine 100 degrees, who has just produced a portrait of the mental health of young people.

According to one study, 47% of young people have mental health that is rated as flourishing, while an equal number rate it as moderately good. Just over 58% of young people are very satisfied with their life in general.

Under the concept of positive mental health, she demonstrates that all is not black or white when it comes to mental health. “It’s possible to have a mental health issue and still have what is called flourishing mental health. People can have an anxiety disorder, but still be reasonably satisfied with their life, manage to have friends, friendships, satisfying social relationships,” she says.

According to Ms. Boire, initiatives allow young people to develop well at school, such as outdoor education, that is, classes that are set up outside, a concept that has been present for several years in La Tuque, particularly in La High School tuque.
