The Finn defended his title from the previous year with 63.0 percent of the votes. Iisalo and Bonn are at the top of the table in the Bundesliga, and the team reached the final four in the Champions League. “The Baskets coach ended up ahead of his two colleagues Roel Moors (BG Göttingen) and Sasa Filipovski (Würzburg Baskets), who look after two of the surprise teams of the season,” says the BBL press release. Moors got 19.0 percent of the vote, Filipovski got 12.0 percent. While BG has already made it into the playoffs, Würzburg is still fighting to make it into the postseason.
The BBL also announced the results of the league’s Most Valuable Player poll. The MVP title also went to a native of Bonn: TJ Shorts (88 percent) won with a huge lead over DeWayne Russell (Oldenburg – 5.0 percent) and Stanley Whittaker (Würzburg – 4.0 percent).
