Uber has launched a new update to make it easier for riders to choose eco-friendly transportation. The feature, called Uber Green Reserve, allows Londoners to pre-book all-electric rides up to 90 days in advance. By selecting the Green Uber option, riders can help reduce their carbon footprint while also supporting drivers who earn 10% more than they would with an UberX ride. To use the feature, users simply open the Uber app and select ‘Reserve’ under the Suggestions section. The launch of Uber Green Reserve comes as a survey of 1,000 Londoners reveals that 76% of them feel it’s important to reduce their carbon footprint while traveling. With 8,000 electric vehicles listed on Uber in London, this city has more electric vehicles than any other city in the world. While it’s unclear whether Uber Green Reserve will roll out in other cities, Uber is committed to being the cleanest platform on Earth as part of its efforts to help the environment.
