Police Dismantles Roadside Garage in Bekasi: Warning Issued to Residents

Bekasi

A ‘garage’ in front of a house belonging to a resident of Serang Baru, Regency Bekasi, was dismantled by the police and Satpol PP because it was on a public road. Police warned residents not to park their vehicles on the streets.

“We, from the Serangbaru Police, together with Muspika, Serang Baru District, never tire of reminding residents not to set a stake in making vehicle parking lots on public road facilities,” added the Head of Serang Baru Police, AKP Josman Harianja in his statement, Thursday (4/5/2023).

It is known that a woman with the initials M barricaded the road with iron so that her new car could be parked. Josman said that M did not have a garage, so he was determined to make his own ‘garage’ in front of his house.

“He (the owner of the ‘garage’) just bought a car, just bought a car waiting for a school next door, (he plans) to take (his car) to school, (but) the gate (school) is closed so he can’t park at school,” said Josman.

“Meanwhile he parked there (in front of the house),” he added.

Josman said that the road in front of M’s house has 2 lanes. However, because of M’s ‘garage’, now the road only has one lane.

“(M) doesn’t have a (garage),” said Josman.

From the photos circulating on social media, as seen on Thursday (4/5), you can see a car covered in a sarong in front of the house. Around the car, visible iron barriers.

The distance between the iron is approximately 1 meter. The irons are connected by a chain. So, as if the car was in a garage.

The ‘garage’ has now been demolished. There are no more ‘garage’ barrier bars.
