Since the elimination of the Rangers, there have been rumors about the possibility of Gerard Gallant being fired.
After all, his roster hasn’t been able to make it past the first round even with all the big additions to the squad in recent months and some are pointing the finger at him for Rangers’ failures.
But in fact, Gallant has little to be ashamed of. It’s not him who didn’t deliver the goods on the ice, it’s rather some star players from the New York formation.
I’m referring here to Artemi Panarin, who didn’t find the back of the net in seven games against New Jersey. Mika Zibanejad must also look in the mirror. Brief.
The current Rangers head coach is well aware of the whispers about him and he lost patience with reporters this morning when it was time for the team’s report.
Gallant said he was disappointed to see the rumors created by the media and said aloud that he “couldn’t believe it” having to answer questions related to said rumors:
“I can’t believe I have to answer some of these questions about me getting fired, brought up by the media. Disappointing.”

He was irritated, Mr. Gallant. And I can understand why.
Basically, the main interested maintains that he has no real reason to believe the rumors in question because of his performance with the team since he landed in the Big Apple two years ago.
Recall that in 2021-2022, the Rangers went to the semi-finals before losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games. They had offered quite a bit of opposition to the newest Stanley Cup champion at the time, which is no small feat.
All that to say that Gallant still sees himself behind the Rangers bench in the future. He maintains that he had no discussion with Chris Drury (GM) and the management of Rangers about a possible dismissal…
And that’s why he got a bit “on the nerves” in front of the reporters today.

So much happened in my life over 12 months. Moving on from the @NYRangers ,heartsurgery, setbacks, retiring from hockey. All things led me to dig deep and think about my mindset/life.
