“Donald Trump praises Ireland’s success in attracting companies, but avoids tax question”

Former US President Donald Trump has praised Ireland for successfully luring many companies to the country. Speaking on his arrival at his Doonbeg hotel in County Clare, Trump also acknowledged that many people believe US companies located in Ireland should pay more tax in America, although he refused to comment on the issue. Trump, who has invested heavily in Ireland through his hotel and golf resort, said he hoped to work on developing the property during his visit. He also played a round of golf on Thursday. The visit marks Trump’s first trip abroad since becoming the first former US president to face criminal charges.
