Michelle Davis, a 52-year-old account manager from Orewa, New Zealand, ignored a red bump on her nose until it became sore and started bleeding. Michelle thought it was just a pimple but went to the doctor when it wouldn’t stop bleeding. Her doctor suspected it was cancer and a biopsy later confirmed it was basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer. Michelle underwent surgery to remove the cancer and underwent nasal flap reconstruction to pull the nose skin over the hole. Her nostrils are now of different shapes, but she is recovering well. Michelle urges everyone to take any unusual spot seriously and get it checked immediately. This inspiring story serves as a reminder that it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
