Samsung may be taking a new approach to smartphone camera design, with potential upgrades to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Recent trademark filings suggest that the company is developing two new camera sensor ranges labeled “Isocell Zoom” and “Isocell Zoom Pro,” which are likely to power the next generation of zoom cameras in Samsung devices. An industry insider predicts that these camera sensors will debut in the 2024 Galaxy S series, with Isocell Zoom offering 10.87 megapixels and support for phase-detect autofocus, and Isocell Zoom Pro, a 50-megapixel sensor featuring a Hexa2Pixel arrangement to support advanced pixel-binning techniques. Improved resolution will undoubtedly significantly increase the quality of digital zoom, enhancing the camera’s overall performance. With a redesigned camera featuring a variable zoom lens, Isocell Zoom is expected to be a major improvement for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung’s use of its homegrown technology will give it a significant advantage in the market, allowing dedicated zoom sensors to extend its lead over rivals such as the iPhone.
