The Canadian Football League drafted. Among them outside linebacker Lino Schröter from Rhein Fire from the ELF. But Rhein Fire probably lost another player to Canada in Lukas Ruoss.
- Schröter showed top values
- Ruoss already drafted in 2022
- Lavin and Falola also drafted from the ELF
Lino Schröter from Troisdorf was signed by the Calgary Stampeders in the second round of the CFL Global Draft. At the MPC Combine in Hennef at the beginning of March, Schröter impressed with top values. In the shuttle (4.15 seconds) and in the L drill (6.74 seconds), the 23-year-old, who played for the Cologne Crocodiles in the German Football League last season, achieved the best values of all participants. Schröter had signed with Rhein Fire for the coming season in the European League of Football.
In addition to Schröter, head coach Jim Tomsula also loses Lukas Ruoss. The Swiss national player was already active for Rhein Fire in 2022 and recorded 62 tackles, six of them for loss of space and three interceptions including a pick six. Drafted by the Sasketchewan Roughriders in 2022, Ruoss has now received a contract. Before his time at Rhein Fire, the 27-year-old was active in the German Football League with the Potsdam Royals.
In addition to Schröter, two other players from the ELF were drafted by the CFL teams. Swedish offensive lineman Lucas Lavin, scheduled for the Hamburg Sea Devils, was selected by the Ottawa Redblacks. The Toronto Argonauts also selected linebacker Emmanuel Falola from the Prague Lions. Germany’s Kilian Zierer, also an offensive lineman, received a pick from the Edmonton Elks. However, Zierer is likely to prefer his involvement with the Chicago Bears in the NFL.
